Getting your music played
My band has a CD, 7", or some MP3's, can you play them ? Yes. If your band plays some type of SKA, Rocksteady, 2tone, Reggae or a similar style you are welcome to send your music and I will add it to the playlist. You can email on the contact page with your facebook, myspace, website or a link to where I can get the songs. If you email the songs, send only 2-3 songs (under 25MB) per each email, MP3 is preferred , but any format will be acceptable. I usually will add anything sent to me for free. You can also send your electronic press kits & info. You can also upload your songs directly to me by using the Upload Songs page. Or you can upload your songs or entire album to a file hosting site, then email me the link given after upload. I will not share this link and you may delete your files after I have had time to download them all. If you are a Hotmail or Windows Live user, you can send files to my Skydrive. If you want to send me a real cd, record, stickers, swag or other physical media, mail it to: Campbell's Auto Sales Attn: Ska Bob 10424 15th ave SW Seattle WA 98146-1473 USA
What's you song submission policy ? I do not have a formal policy, see the above answer for more info.
My band is on your site, can people download my music ? NO. My site is streaming only(like Youtube, Myspace & Facebook music players) and Im sure some people may be able to figure out how to save a song from my station, myspace, youtube, etc but it would be like taping off the radio. Most songs are faded in & out, so both ends of the song would be overlapped by another song or station promo and the bitrate is much lower than a song purchased from itunes or amazon mp3. There are also time limits of how often each song, artist & album can be requested and a limit on the number or requests accepted per hour & per day from each listener. I provide links on most songs to a legal music storefront (amazon, itunes, bandcamp or your custom link) and to a web site(myspace, facebook, official web page, etc) so hopefully each band will gain fans a get a few album sales after being played. I am getting new music each week submitted directly from artists or labels and so far no band has yet asked to have their music removed. If your band (or label) does not what it's (or your) music played and would like it removed then I have no problem with that and I will remove it as soon as possible. Email me your request and your affiliation with that band.
My Band is not on your site, can you add them ? Yes. If I do not have them, most likely I do have have their (or your) music and may have never heard of them. Even though I have been collecting ska music for over 12 years there have been thousands of great bands over the last 40+ years and with new albums coming out every week, it would be very difficult & expensive to buy each album I saw music just for the sake of buying it. I might buy several albums per month, new and old, and most of those are added on the station. If your music is not on the site and you would like it played, send it to the address listed above.
We do not have an official album out, can you play demo's or live tracks ? Yes I can play whatever you want to send me, weather it's from a album or something your recorded lastnight in the basement. If its live, a soundboard recording is preferred. In the end it's up to you, if the quality is good enough that you feel people will be able to enjoy your music then feel free to send the songs in.
Can I see how much our songs have been played or requested ? Yes, email me with your band name and your affiliation with that band. I will be able to get you this information. The station tracks all plays & requests.
I like your live videos, can you video our band ? Yes, if your playing in my local area (Seattle to Olympia) let me know the details and I will come to the show if I am able. |
